Welcome, welcome, welcome! I’m really excited to have you on board and I wanted to make this video to set the stage for the learning in this course. This video is an invocation to the Divine and it’s an invocation to begin the learning. The invitation here is for yourself to be relaxed, be comfortable and, if it helps, perhaps to even close your eyes and tune yourself into the level of vibration that we’re going to create in this course.
There are 6 speech acts that all conversations fall under. I like to break those 6 speech acts into two sections of 3 speech acts. The first group consists of: Requests, Offers and Promises. The second group consists of: Assessments, Assertions and Declarations. These speech acts intertwine and interact with each other. In this video, we quickly summarize how each of the second group of speech acts work together. TRANSCRIPT BELOW
One of the things that we learn during our lives is that “Promises” are sacrosanct; we can’t break them. By understanding that “promises” are just one of the speech acts that we use in our everyday communication and conversation, we can take control of how we show up to others. When we actually take hold of this speech act, we can see how we can actually design our life and our conversations…
That’s René Descartes and he made great contributions to the main Western narrative and approach to life. While he may have championed the mechanistic view of humans and human beings, he may have left out the other potentially “important bits.” In this video we talk about what it means to be a human. There are 3 things that are common to humans: #1) a body #2) emotions and #3) language. Learning how each of these affects each other is the key to understanding how we can develop effective communication.
Hi and welcome to this video. In this video, I want to introduce you to a new understanding of language. The idea is this: when we learn, we change; and when we change, it is because we learnt. This idea is significant because we know that change is inevitable. By associating change with learning, we can choose to control the degree of change in our lives. When we learn, we change.
Hi and welcome! I hope you are excited to dive into the learning material within this course. In the following video lectures we are going to learn about how to improve communication skills. This course will set a framework of learning so that you are able to understand the structures and foundations inherent in communication. The information in this course will help you to: Become a more effective communicator in the workplace Change how you approach conversations with your family and your community Develop and improve your communication skills as a leader Notice what kind of conversations you are in and take control of them Each of us is a human being.
The observer that we are takes actions based on an underlying framework of belief. This framework creates and allows the possibilities for actions that we can take. By learning about the speech acts and how the body, emotions and language come into play, we can approach the observer we are and consciously choose to change in order to create congruency. These concepts are taught more in depth in my e courses: 3 Steps To Improve Your Communication Skills.
I’m quite excited to actually announce the release of my new course on Udemy. It is likely titled 3 Steps To Improve Your Communication Skills.” As a coach, I work work with my clients to create congruency in the domains of language, emotions and body. So what is that mean? Well everything begins with communication. Or at least that’s what I believe. And the keys to effective communication skills involves communicating not just through language but also through the emotions as well as the body.
